Fortitude Boxing offers individuals the opportunity to learn the skills of the sweet science and train for fitness or to become a competitive fighter as an amateur or as a professional boxer.

We offer two Boxfit style sessions per week targeting the fitness enthusiasts and also offer two sessions a week for developing our up and coming champion fighters.

Morgan Austin

Introduced to the sport of boxing at the age of ten, Morgan fought competitively as a successful amateur through to the age of sixteen.

In that time he accumulated a winning record and won the North Island Golden Gloves in the 42kg division at the age of 13. Morgan traveled around training at various gyms before returning home to Masterton and to boxing in his mid twenties.

He realised he had more of a passion to train others, help others develop their skills and pass on the knowledge he had acquired over the years.

Morgan is passionate about the sport of boxing and to help produce quality fighters to represent Wairarapa.

Dave Drummond

Dave has been involved in Boxing since the early 80’s.

He began in Silverstream where he trained under Kevin Gunn and Ken Merrill.

When his Rugby career took him to the UK in the 90’s he also competed there and built on his positive record. Dave competed between 63.5kg and 71kg tallied a total of 30 amateur bouts winning his national Golden Gloves amongst them.

Dave turned his sights to training and promoting in the early 2000’s where he held a series of charity fundraising events in Masterton known as ‘Guns vs Hoses’. These shows pitting Cop versus Fireman were and instant success for the public as well as the charities that benefited from over $100,000 generated by the events.

Dave, a Police Youth Aid Officer knows the capability Boxing. Not only as a sports career but its ability to promote better life choices through the respect and discipline of Boxing.

Dave currently trains Masterton’s only professional Boxer, Zane ‘Hybrid’ Hopman who is currently the mandatory challenger for the NZPBA Cruiser Weight title.
